The Neverending Story II is a platform game which is largely based on the movie. The concept is simple: you're Bastian, and are called forth once again by the Childlike Empress to save Fantasia, the Land of Dreams.

Shadow Knights is a platform game where you try to complete several levels, such as a village, a cemetery or a castle, before confronting the final boss. On each level, you'll encounter a lot of enemies - initially dogs and ninjas with clubs and bows, but more types of enemies appear later.
To defeat them, you can slash at them with your sword. However, your ninja also has magic powers. He can spend this magical energy to toss magical projectiles at the enemies, or to restore his health. "Saiyūki World 2: Tenjōkai no Majin" is an action platformer, akin to many games at the time. The protagonist is Sun Wukong, the King Monkey, one of the most popular characters in the Chinese culture.
After completing the first stage, the player can play the other six in any order. Each of the stages revolve around elements, such as fire and water. After each stage, the player gains a new weapon, much like in the original Mega Man series, which was extremely popular at the time. The game was released with thematic and graphical changes as "Whomp 'Em" for North American audiences. "Saiyūki World 2: Tenjōkai no Majin" (as well as Whomp 'Em) and the prior Saiyuki World (which was an adaptation of Wonder Boy in Monster Land) are based on the Journey to the West novel.
Zone Warrior is a side-scrolling platform game with exploration and shooting elements. It consists of five levels: Prehistoric, Egyptian, Medieval, Japanese and Future zones. Various enemies stand in the way, fitting the respective time period: dinosaurs and cavemen in prehistoric times, pharaohs in Egypt, robots in the future.
The Game Boy version for Dragon's Lair is actually a port of Roller Coaster, with its protagonist replaced by Dirk the Daring. Dirk must collect all "lifestones" scattered all around the game world (by walking or jumping) to finally save Princess Daphne. The game world is divided in several screens which can be freely navigated and are a little wider than Game Boy's screen. As Dirk moves the screen will scroll and when its limit is reached, it will flick to a new one. To help him move around, Dirk can jump over bumper cars, flying magic hats and other kinds of moving platforms.
A port of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap developed by Hudson Soft for the PC-Engine. It was released in Japan under the title of Adventure Island, shouldn't be confused with the Adventure Island series, also by Hudson Soft.
Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement is an official modification of Super Mario Bros. 3 of IFD - Ideas from the Deep. The tech demo has the Dangerous Dave instead of Mario to avoid copyright issues. It would lead to the beginning of id Software.
