Assault: Retribution is a 3D platform shooting game that takes place across seven futuristic levels, includes two playable characters with alternate routes, analog control, and memory card support. You can't spell action, adrenaline or assault with out an "A," so go out and kick a few.

Crime War is a story mode, following a day in the life of an LAPD X1-Alpha pilot. The story events range from rogue lunatics arming observatories with weapons, to a malfunctioning supercomputer. Players begin in a futuristic Griffith Park, but as they advance through the game they may unlock areas such as Venice Beach, LAX and Long Beach.

A Nataka installation is suddenly attacked by forces from Network 53, a branch of the Argus Industrial Corporation and a long-standing ally. No explanation is given and a full-scale war erupts. The game's editor allows players to design their own shooting game levels similar to the levels shown in Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth. It was originally developed alongside an ultimately unreleased accompanying expansion disk title for 64DD.
