Axis is a multiplayer first-person shooter with mechs. However, these are not the big and clunky robots usually featured in mech games, but fast machines which have the ability to float for a short amount of time. This means the game speed is more akin to mid-nineties shooters like Quake. The backdrop story is set in the 22th century when multinational companies fight over resources. The game features overall eight multiplayer modes (e.g. Deathmatch, Rocket Arena or Gladiator) with differences regarding rules and winning conditions, but generally they all involve the player fighting alone against the opposition by running (and floating) around, shooting weapons at other players and picking up power-ups (e.g. armor, shields or damage multiplier) which spawn on the 28 maps. The basic stats of the player's mech, e.g. armor or the boost speed, are determined by the chosen pilot character and the used mech components which can be changed for arms, legs, chassis, head, booster and weapon load-out. Double Impact is a episode replacement PWAD for The Ultimate Doom by Matt Cibulas (RottKing) and Ralph Vickers (Ralphis). It is a winner of 2011's 18th Annual Cacowards, requires a limit-removing port to play. In its original PWAD form, it replaces all nine levels of Episode 1. On 11 November 2013, it has been included with Freedoom: Phase 1, as part of the fourth chapter of the game. On 13th February 2020, Double Impact was the first community-made mod to be adopted by Bethesda as one of the official add-ons for the Doom Classic Unity port. This version is slightly different. First, the intermission image, which incorporates the cover art from the unlicensed Hungarian novel Doom - Tisztítótűz, was recreated using instead the Eisen character from Quake Champions (specifically, the Eisen skin variant featuring a cap and an eyepatch). You as a law defender take on the crime lord and clear the streets of his filth. 2) House on the Hill. You survive through a night at haunted house or become a permanent resident. 3) County Fair. You visit a county fair and try to score as much bounties as possible. 4) Neptune Six. You defend the control room against renegade android raiders. 5) Silicon Gulch. You siege a Wild West town to get rid of bandits. 6) Terminal Flight. You rescue the hostages in airplane full of terrorists. The events of the game occur on static screen, where you should shoot as much enemies appearing in certain places as possible. Innocent people should not be touched.
