Build your bridge with love. Be proud of your creation, and give it a pompous name. Then eventually watch it with horror collapsing as a train runs of it, giving you an undeniable proof that your bridge was indeed flawed. Then start over.
These few sentences depict well a typical game of Pontifex, the successor of the infamous freeware Bridge Builder which had already made crazy numerous players around the world when it was released.
As its name suggests, this game is all about building bridges. Each level confronts you with the same challenge: there is a river to cross, and it's up to you to devise the bridge. Three materials are available - light steel, heavy steel and wire - each with own strength, weight and price. In order to clear a level, your bridge must be able to withstand successfully the weight of a train running on it. Hopefully, you can try an unlimited number of times...
The game actually features a very advanced physics model, taking into account compression and stretching - and of course gravity

ACE Online is a 3-D space shooter that combines action and MMORPG elements. The game puts players in the role of fighter pilots and behind the controls of ships known as "Gears".
In Breed, you must take control of a squad of soldiers and win 18 different missions. They take place on tropical islands, Antarctica and even outer space. There is a variety of vehicles including tanks, buggies and fighter jets, ensuring that a range of control skills must be mastered. Everything you see can be blown up, with weapons including plasma guns, assault rifles and grenades.
Very much a snake game, Rattler Race adds a few twists to the long-held conventions of the genre (those being: you guide a snake from a top-down perspective, always in forward motion; it eats its targets and grows in length, but dies should it collide with any obstacles): in addition to a competing snake foiling your routes, a ball bounces around the play-field, Pong-style, killing your snake should the ball ricochet against its head.
The other standout qualities are largely cosmetic: periodically enemy movement "freezes", giving the player a period of free motion; the opposing snake will also "eat" your targets (here "apples" -- occasionally bonus "golden apples") and grow longer, though it doesn't seek them out; gameplay can be conducted with as many as three opposing snakes and three bouncing balls complicating the playfield at once; you head for the exit once all apples are eaten, but the enemy snake(s) can exit instead, restarting the level. Triumph against all these odds and you get 29 more levels of similar
Cubert Badbone, P.I. is a freeware adventure game inspired by film noir. With grey-scale graphics it tells the story of an alien detective trying to find out where all the human tourists have gone missing. In the process you will meet characters such as the bartender Baked Potato and a blind psychic pianist. Yep, it is a humouristic take on the noir genre.
The game plays as a traditional point and click adventure game. This means that the game is played with your brain, rather than with quick reflexes. Puzzles are solved in order to progress through the story. It is developed using Tim Furnish' SLUDGE engine.
