Mobius Evolution is a heavy modification of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive created by Abyssal Leopard with the help of fellow members. The aim of this hack was initially to be a simple level layout hack, but it eventually acquired new features, such as innovative gimmicks, boss battles and other things the player might discover in gameplay.
Sonic 3 Complete is a hack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles which aims to provide a much improved variant of the original game, with many new options and features, without straying from the original levels or gameplay. The inclusion of separate modes for Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Blue Sphere also make this a close cousin of the PC compilation Sonic & Knuckles Collection, albeit designed for the original 16-bit hardware.
Sonic 2: Advanced Edit is a Sonic 2 hack created by rika_chou. Sonic 2: Advanced Edit has seen 4 major releases. The 4th release includes the levels from the 3rd release as bonus content.
Sonic: Scorched Quest (formerly known as Sonic 1: Burned Edition) is a hack created by Team Painto of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive, which shows one of Sonic's adventures after the events of Sonic CD on South Island. This hack is also largely recognized by the community after being the multi-trophy winner of the Sonic Hacking Contest 2016.
Sonic ERaZor is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Selbi. This hack is unlike many other hacks, featuring a heavy in-game story line, unique challenges, and never seen before gameplay mechanics. These elements are often somehow related to explosions, which is why this hack is sometimes called, "What if Michael Bay directed Sonic 1?"
Sonic 3D: No Flickies is a hack of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island made by Sik. The game remains mostly unchanged; however, the Flicky collection system (part of the core gameplay of the original game) has been removed, allowing the player to complete the levels without needing to collect all the flickies in the level to advance. This makes it much more similar to traditional Sonic games, where the goal is to simply make it to the end of the level without dying.
This hack was later built upon further in the hack, Super Sonic in Sonic 3D, which was also created by Sik.
Super Sonic in Sonic 3D is a hack of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island made by Sik. This hack allows the player to turn into Super Sonic in said game after collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds, mimicking its prequels Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. The rules are borrowed from the latter two games, so the player must double jump to transform and also must not have a shield in that moment, besides the basic requirements (having all emeralds and 50 rings).
All of Super Sonic's behaviour is implemented: a custom palette, a transformation pose with a fading palette, invincibility (with stars), speed shoes and a music change upon transformation. Rings drain while transformed as well. Super Sonic can still be killed by getting crushed by some falling platforms, however, so he isn't completely immune to death.
This hack is based off Sonic 3D: No Flickies, and as such it shares the same gameplay rules.
This is a ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive, that features Ray the Flying Squirrel, who takes the place of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Unlike Fabricechaotix' 2007 version of Ray the Flying Squirrel in Sonic the Hedgehog, which only had SegaSonic the Hedgehog to reference, this one used Sonic Mania Plus as a reference, and also pulled assets from it, such as art.
This ROM hack adds the Spindash from later Sonic games (and ports) and fix the notorious "Spike Bug", which causes the player to die after falling in a spiked pit.
Kirby in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 features Kirby and Waddle Dee as the lead protagonists to defeat Dr. Robotnik. Kirby can inhale monitors and most enemies but cannot copy their abilities, Waddle Dee has no unique moves. Life counter function as Health points and the only way to obtain Health is grabbing every 50+ Rings, Lampposts, Randomized 1Up Monitors, or Score every 50000+ points. The hack also contains 4 Difficulty modes. Hidden Palace is restored and fully playable as a 1 Act Zone for Kirby, located somewhere in Mystic Cave Act 2
This is a hack which replaces the main character with Vector the Crocodile in the original Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis. Vector the Crocodile is a character first playable in Knuckles Chaotix and later playable in Sonic Heroes. His abilities are based on those found in Knuckles Chaotix. Moves include a spindash, air dash, and wall climb. The move list can be found in the readme. As in Chaotix Vector has reduced jump height and acceleration, making Vectors air dash move all the more valuable.
Tails in Sonic 1 is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis originally created by drx which featured Tails as a playable character instead of Sonic. Tails can fly, spindash and swim in the same way that he can in Sonic 3.
This is a hack which enables a Super Sonic transformation in the original Sonic the Hedgehog for Genesis. Sonic can transform to Super Sonic by double jumping while in the air after acquiring all 6 Chaos Emeralds. There is also a cheat code to transform into Super Sonic without beating any special stages.

Kirby in Sonic the Hedgehog as you truly imagined, minus the useless copy abilities. The Hack also features REV01 background effects, and bugfixes. Kirby can inhale monitors and most enemies but cannot copy their abilities. Life counter function as Health points and the only way to obtain Health is grabbing every 50+ Rings, Lampposts, Randomized 1Up Monitors, or Score every 50000+ points. The hack also contains 4 Difficulty modes.
Based off the unlicensed port of Sonic the Hedgehog for the NES/Famicom by Hummer Team, Somari the Adventurer replaces Sonic with 3 unique new moves. Mushroom Kingdom Zone is a newly added 1-Act level as the first zone.
