  • Blade

    Blade

    1997

    Role-playing (RPG) Adventure
    Amiga
For centuries the essence of Quaal, once a powerful and terrible demon, has been trapped inside the sword that once killed him. After a volcanic eruption, however, the blade is stolen by one of Quaal's dark servants intent upon reviving their lord. Four heroes are called upon to retrieve the blade before it's too late. Blade is a turn-based role playing game played from an isometric perspective. However its control scheme is more similar to turn-based tactical games of the time like X-COM, in that each turn is strictly divided into a player phase and an enemy phase, and each character has a limited amount of action points per turn. There is no character creation but the four heroes can be picked from a range of eight, each of a particular class. There is a form of economy as the party starts with a limited sum of gold which can be deposited in a bank and used to purchase equipment. Combat is extremely simplistic, as the player only selects the monster that will be automatically attacked if within range.

    1992

    Puzzle Strategy
    Amiga
Meet Terry and Tracy, an everyday pair of walking, talking tomatoes caught up in a totally unfeasible tale of rivalry, evil squirrels and mystical lands... oh and, erm, love! Ingredients Tracy and Terry are the cream of the tomatoes. Apart from being particularly ripe and squashy specimens, they're both in love and determined to escape from the lorry taking them to the Puree factory so they can run away together and get married. And so, after being hurled into the back of the delivery truck, they make their move, slipping quietly out of the back and squopping (animals hop, tomatoes squop!) away to happiness. Whatever could go wrong? Well, as it happens, lurking in the trees along their path, an evil squirrel was eying up Tracy's plumb form and decided to take her for his own. Just as the two love birds were passing by a tall vine, the squirrel struck, whisking Tracy away from Terry and carrying her away to his vine-top abode. Terry saw red. His skin puckered and his little crown of leaves trembled with anger. S

After that, the used cue (there are three), the spin and the strength of the shot is chosen by aligning diagrams and sliders. Then the shot is performed and points assigned.
