Avalon is the longest running online roleplaying game in the world at 25 years (a world record). It is from Avalon that numerous contemporary genre-defining features such as cooldowns, player run organisations such as guilds, and the foundation of skill-driven player vs player combat originate.
An online text-based RPG ahead of its time ever since it began in 1989 as the first multiplayer roleplaying game online. Avalon is a fair meritocracy. You may quicken your pace but you cannot achieve excellence without deserving it and excellence in any area takes time.
You stagger up to its lair. Blue sand drags at your feet.
Your hands don't tremble — well, much — as you ready your new weapon. Your voice doesn't quaver (hardly at all) as you shout out the words you were taught.
One, two! Dive and roll! Jump! Attack!

You play as a semi-fictional version of me, on a night that changed my life forever. Choose your (my?) words wisely. And if all that seems confusing or awkward... well, that's the gist of coming out as queer, isn't it?

Switcheroo is the 3rd installment of "Mrs. Wobbles and the Tangerine House," a series of choice-based stories about a magical foster care home run by the mysterious Mrs. Wobbles and narrated by a living book. Due to its subject matter, this installment, which is meant to stand on its own, is aimed at a slightly older demographic than the others (10+ yrs old). I've composed this story with my two children, and our goal is to help increase awareness about foster care and adoption while creating storygames for kids and adults to enjoy together.
