    1991

    Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Somewhere on the continent of Fandell, there is a kingdom known as Wineslem. For hundreds of years, this kingdom has been enjoying a peaceful life. Its inhabitants make wine from the country's fine grapes, and merchants from all over the world travel there. But the era of piece has come to an end. An evil force that was asleep for thousand years has awakened. Ferocious monsters and terrible disease plague the kingdom. One day, a Wineslem girl named Elphie finds an unconscious young man on the lake shore. He doesn't remember anything about his past. But with his outstanding skills, he might become the savior people are waiting for. Aiza is an action RPG, somewhat similar in layout to Ys games. However, the combat requires the player to actively press the "attack" key (unlike the "bumping" combat in Ys). Defeated monsters bring experience points, which contribute to the hero's automatic leveling up. Beside physical attacks, the hero can also execute special techniques which require "psyche" points.

    PC-9800 Series
Return of Zion takes place in UC 0090, where Zeon remnants are taking part in a large-scale operation to consolidate their forces and retreat into space to join Char Aznable’s own nascent Neo-Zeon. The game focuses on a group of Haman’s Neo-Zeon in Africa called “Nightshade,” as they link up with other remnant groups and representatives of Char’s Neo-Zeon to ultimately return to space. Return of Zion’s character designs are handled by prolific Sunrise designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, and fits well into the aesthetic he established with his work on Gundam 0083. Playing up the anime style, each mission is actually bookended with an opening and ending sequence, and even a “Next Episode” card.

    Fighting
    PC-9800 Series
Melpool Land is essentially an overhead fighting game between two characters in a small area. Each of the five characters is armed with two objects that they can use to hit their opponent or block attacks as if they were boxing gloves. The first player to reach three wins is the victor and it's possible to win by either emptying the opponent's life meter or by knocking them out of the stage. It is also possible to destroy the opponent's means of attack since they have their own health meters, leaving the opponent unable to do anything except try to ram their opponent off the stage. Arenas have holes and traps to look out for, such as bumpers and tiles that damage you, but there are no items or other abilities available. The story of the game is framed around a tournament hosted by a goddess that offers the winner anything they desire. Each character gets their own ending if you can complete the single player mode with them. A local multiplayer option is also available for two players.

    Creamy Mami: Futari no Rondo

    1994

    Adventure Visual Novel
    PC-9800 Series
Based on the anime Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. The original tells the story of a 10-year-old girl named Yuu Morisawa, who gains a magical ability to transform into a grown-up young woman, eventually becoming a pop star and acquainting the inhabitants of the Earth with the rest of the galaxy. Yuu appears in the game, but is not the protagonist; the player controls four young women in four different scenarios: two of them, Yuri and Aya, on the Earth, and the other two, Ora and Sita, in an alien world, mixture of sci-fi and medieval fantasy. The story goes beyond the original anime by introducing a magical, sacred land known as Finality, populated by fantasy being, and calling the guardians (the four girl protagonist) to bring peace to the galaxy. Futatsu no Sekai plays automatically for the most part, except key scenes which allow interaction - two, sometimes more choices that have to be done by the player. In many cases these choices are merely cosmetic, or may lead to a different text description and scene.

    1993

    Shooter Role-playing (RPG)
    PC-9800 Series
Hamlet is a first-person perspective game, set in the huge 3D maze-like eponymous facility. The auto-map is always visible, showing the player the character's position. Enemies and important objects are also visible on the radar. Whenever an enemy approaches, the playable robot is unable to move. The shooting is actually done in turn-based style; the player can only shoot once the robot's attack meter has filled up, and the rate of shooting depends on the robot's (or enemy's) agility. However, the game doesn't pause when the shooting occurs, creating the illusion of real-time combat. Though the game looks like a first-person shooter, it is, in its core, an RPG. Player-controlled robot receives experience and levels up after having defeated certain amounts of enemies. Attack, defense, speed, etc. get increased with each level up. It is possible to find and equip various kinds of weapons: a basic gun with infinite ammo, but low damage; powerful rocket launchers which cause high damage, yet have limited ammunition, e
