The Nightmare of Ganon is a complete redesign of the NES game Zelda II with new story, overworld, caves, palaces, towns, item order, random encounters, and more.
It’s a hardtype and more challenging then the original game. Enemies don’t take more hits then usual, the difficulty lies more in the design.
It’s much longer because of a bigger overworld which has more caves and bridges. There are longer caves and deeper palaces.
There are a couple custom changes to gameplay which include enemies that respawn & you can restart at the palace if you game over.
This romhack will give a feeling like it’s a totally new Zelda II game because none of the design is similar to the original.
Mario: Escape from the Jail - Definitive Edition is a ROM hack which contains 5 main courses and several side courses to explore and 50 collectable stars. This hack is a remaster of the original Escape from the Jail, made in 2016. This marks the second hack contributed in remaking a game of the Ztar Attack series, as well as the third game not made by the original creator (the first being Forest Ruins: Rebooted; the second being Ztar Attack Rebooted).
Following the story, this game unfolds as a prequel to Ztar Attack under the brand "Ztar Attack 0.5". Unlike Ztar Attack Rebooted, the game uses the original level layout but key sections are condensed by quality standards -- visuals and exploration alike. Plus, newer gameplay tech and custom assets are implemented.

A miniboss.

There's been massive engine overhauls as well, including the Sonic 3 level layout format for massive levels, and the Sonic 3 object manager to go alongside this.
Backwards Mario World is an easier hack that parodies the storytelling/style in most rom hacks.
This hack features an interesting overworld design where you play through the events/levels as if they already occurred. Additionally start-select is enabled because Mario has technically beaten the game already. Good Luck!
This hack features 6 rather lengthy levels. Although the hack can be played through normally in half an hour, you can revisit the levels to find new paths and many secrets. The difficulty ranges from very easy to very hard, the hardest sections being well hidden for the best players to find. Expect plenty of original gameplay ideas and nicely designed environments.
Tebeo is the creator's first ever SMW hack. They themed every level in it around comic books they like (Tebeo means comic in spanish).
The difficulty of this hack scales up a bit at the end of the game, and also at the last level of each overworld. Overall the game is easy/medium Kaizo difficulty.
All the mechanics and sprites are vanilla and almost all the graphics, except some stuff edited on yychr. It has custom palettes and music.
About asm, it has some life quality patches, like instant retry and NoMoreSpriteTileLimits.
