Pokémon Red++ is a hack of Pokémon Red created by Mateo. The hack uses the Pokered Disassembly from the users at Skeetendo as a base. It is intended both as a Rombase for people who want an updated Red Version as a starting point (although admittedly, some of the features wouldn't appeal to all Gen 1 hackers it seems), and as a stand-alone game for people that want to relive the nostalgia of Gen 1 without some of the broken mechanics and with added features.
Ys 2 was the second game Mantra brought to Korea after Princess Maker. But instead of just porting one of the many available home computer or console versions, Mantra assembled a whole development team to recreate the entire game.
Other than completely redrawn graphics and a remixed soundtrack, Mantra also expanded many of the field maps and added new events, including a new dungeon called Dan'gun's Tower.
Already shamelessly plugged in Cain in the 3rd Earth, Harmonian Tales follows in the footsteps of the previous game as a turn-based RPG. The game takes place in a more traditional fantasy world this time, and is much more light-hearted in its story. The characters are cocky, dialogues silly and the premise about a boy who wakes up in a cave and tries to find his home quite banal. In this respect, it carries many similarities to the Grandia series, but it is never quite as charming.
Cain in the 3rd Earth is a science fiction role-playing game in Japanese style. The player navigates a party of characters through overhead environments. There is no world map, and hostile areas connect villages, towns, and dungeons.
The title might misleadingly imply a sequel to the above mecha shooter, but Maan has actually nothing in common with thata, other than the name of its protagonist. Instead Makkoya created their first traditional RPG, with heavy influences from both Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. While the graphics at times can even be confused with the former at times, the combat system leans more towards the latter. Enemies are seen on the map at all times, but when the heroes approach them, the game switches into an active turn-based combat mode. It lacks the finesse of its role model and interesting features like the combination techs, though.
The background story is rather silly: A kid wants to play a video game but get smacked in the head by his mother, so he cries himself into the video game somehow. In a world full of strange anthropomorphic characters, he is Zakato, the robotic warrior, and has to team up with two goddesses to fight an evil godess' threat to world peace. Argo is a role-playing game set in a pseudo-3D continuous world. The player explores the environments from a first-person view. It is possible to try to talk to any encountered character, as well as attack anyone. Most battles take place within the exploration area and involve a fairly simple turn-based exchange of attacks. However, occasional fights against larger monsters take place on a separate screen, have an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, and require the player to move and attack in real time. Experience points and gold are awarded for defeating enemies. It is necessary to feed the protagonist; when his condition is "hungry" food also restores a portion of his hit points.
