The game allows players to go through the story of either Himura Kenshin, Sagara Sanosuke, Saito Hajime, or Shinomori Aoshi, who is playable once the player unlocks him, although with a smaller movelist. GetBackers Dakkanya: Ubawareta Mugenjou is an action RPG based on the Manga series GetBackers. You control two characters, Ben and Ginji, who possess special powers that allow them to find and to recover items, valuables, and even people who got lost. Now they are offered a huge sum of money for a recovery job they have to do for a mysterious customer from an even more mysterious Castle of Infinity. The gameplay is based on exploration of randomly generated dungeons. You search for items and also trigger important cut scenes by exploring every corner in the dungeons. The action-based combat resembles a fighting game. You can perform a variety of moves, block your opponent's attack, and switch between the characters. Attacks deplete your stamina bar, so continuously using the strongest attacks is not always the best choice. When your stamina bar is full, you can perform powerful combo attacks.

The game is similar to Monopoly in that players roll one die to advance around a board, purchase an unowned property they land on and earn money when opponents land on the player's property. The game differs from Monopoly in that players can buy and sell stocks of a block, affecting the value of block's stock up by buying or down by selling that block's stock or by developing a player-owned property of that block which increases the value per share for that block's stock. Also unlike Monopoly, it is not necessary to own the entire block to develop a property, though controlling more than one property of a block allows the player to develop their properties into larger buildings to collect more from opponents when they land on them. Players must collect a set of four suits, heart, diamond, clover and spade, to level up and collect additional gold when the pass the starting position/bank.
