The game lets the player learn about meals and cooking, and features different mini-games.
Happy Diet is sort of a simulation game that allows the player to lose weight while they're playing using the Stepper Controller. The player at the beginning of the game enters they're age, height & weight and after that they can choose the game mode.
In this game the player controls a young girl detective that have to solve 18 cases. To solve them she will have to inspect all the cases places in search of clues, after finding all the clues she will have to make a theory and solve it, that last part is really hard to do if the player don't understand japanese since all the questions are in japanese and without answer them in the right way the player can advance to next case.
The gameplay is a first person perspective with 2d cartoon graphics, when the player finds one of the clues the game makes a close up view.

Shortly after the events of Alpha, the Earth Federation has covered up many of the events in the climatic battle with the antagonist Aerogaters, but the gravity shock wave from the detonation of the Excelion (from Gunbuster) in the Battle of the Solar System's Absolute Defense is rapidly approaching the Earth, and threatens to wipe out the space colonies and the planet. The Earth's only hope is the Aegis System, which could shield the Earth Sphere from the shock wave.
Unfortunately, the heroes are sent to an alternate future, where the Earth has been ravaged by the wave. Faced with a new threat in the form of the Ancestors, the heroes must find a way to return to their time and prevent this alternate, dystopic future from happening.

The game is extremely similar to Ganbare Goemon 2 for Super Famicom and Goemon's Great Adventure/Mystical Ninja 2 in that there's mostly sidescrolling levels, accompanied by some Impact bosses. Unlike previous Goemon games, which have used sprites or 3-D models for the characters, the characters are now represented by pre-rendered CGI, giving them a quasi-3-D look. Also, Yae is featured in her outfit that first appeared in Mononoke Suguroku.
