Altus 24 is a game about an angel participating in a ceremonial ritual that involves ascending several giant towers, conquering the bosses on each of their roofs. The game cycles continuously between three "phases": Build, Spawn, and Action. In the build phase, you have access to an inventory of building items which you can use to construct platforms and mechanisms to help you scale further up the tower. After each build phase, new enemies spawn into the tower. Finally, in the action phase, the game unfreezes itself, and you are given 15 seconds to achieve as much as you can. This includes climbing higher, fighting enemies, and opening treasure chests. The latter two provide you with cards, which can be flipped over during the build phase, awarding you with random building blocks, potions, new weapons, upgrades, and other helpful items.

Sometimes it's not enough to just run in swinging. Certain enemies are best defeated using more unorthodox methods.
Some enemies can be supressed with a combo barrage. A sound mastery of the combo system is crucial if you really want to dish out the pain.
Combos are also just plain old fun..."

Aerobat is an absurdly high speed arcade shmup-like. The core experience is about building and expending speed. Your ship can power its engines or its weapons, but not both at once; to destroy enemies you must boost to build as much speed as possible, then launch upwards and cut the engines to begin firing from free-fall. The longer you boost without firing, the bigger the payoff when you finally release and start shooting.
The game's art, design, and code have been created solely by Matthew Yeager, known ordinarily as Thew.
Aerobat was initially developed in April 2013 as a 48-hour prototype for Ludum Dare 26. The prototype was fun enough to be worth expanding into a proper game, and so work has continued on the project since then.
