Rockfish is an unfinished iOS game that was being developed by Studio Pixel, the creator of Cave Story. Having started development in 2010, the game originally focused on a rockfish, who is contacted by a mermaid that has been imprisoned in an amulet. She asks the fish to collect the pieces of the shattered amulet in order to free her.
By the end of 2011, development was paused and the game's concept was retooled. This rebooted version of the game featured a man in a submarine as the protagonist. This version was being worked on until the end of 2012, after which the project was scrapped in favor of Kero Blaster.
In 2023, Pixel released a previously unreleased demo for Rockfish, dated November 27, 2011.
