Spore Creatures is a spin-off of Spore, in which a player controls and evolves a creature of their creation. Unlike the original PC game, which had multiple game stages, Spore Creatures focuses only on the "creature stage", utilizing 2D graphics rather than 3D.

The player assumes the role of a rookie FBI agent who awakens in a strange hotel and attempts to escape with the help of L, who provides assistance via an in-game PDA.
