Old two-episode pack from 2002. Two episodes! Two excellent Wizard-style SP episodes with modified and new monsters, many custom textures, and seven additional deathmatch maps. No doubt one of Dustin "Tronyn" Geeraert's best mapping expositions, especially for 2002.

  • Quake: Warp Spasm

    2007

    Quake: Warp Spasm

    2007

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Probably the evilest and most hostile atmosphere a Quake release ever had. This episode is built upon Quoth code and monsters. It comes with "dark ambient" music which adds to the feeling. The levels are huge, and the number of monsters in each one is extreme. An essential release, but clearly not for everyone. This episode is three-hour-long for experienced players to clear.

  • Quake: Prelude to Apocalypse & Mordrigor's Demise

    1997

Quake: Prelude to Apocalypse & Mordrigor's Demise

    1997

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Prelude to Apocalypse (most commonly known as mexx8) was an extensive two-map wizmetal medieval map pack, with tense gameplay. While a little dated or "blocky" by modern standard, used the cutscene engine that first debuted in "Vision of Hatred", this time, the cutscenes have been used in moderation in a way that doesn't break immersion. The maps used custom models and sounds, a rare occurrence in 1997. Another of Marcus Dromowicz's (mexx) very early works, and one of his most notable ones.
  • Quake: Func Jam 3

    2014

  • Quake: Marcher Fortress

    2005

    Quake: Marcher Fortress

    2005

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
While quite dated in 2005, was also quite early for singleplayer Quake 1 mapping. Marcher Fortress impressed many with its Q3stone/metal-styled fortress of epic scale, with a few new monsters in lots of hardcore horde combat (almost 400 monsters in total) as well as its many other custom gameplay additions. Marcher Fortress impressed many with its use of curved surfaces, as well as its vast landscape similar to the Halo games.
  • Quake: Cassandra Calamity

    1997

    Quake: Cassandra Calamity

    1997

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Cassandra Calamity (also known as Mexx10) is the last map pack of Marcus Dromowicz (mexx), of early Quake fame. It is the second-largest mexx map, with two large, detailed base levels with a story, some new textures, skins and sounds, and custom cyborg enforcers, along with a few other additions. The author encouraged co-op play. The map was one-of-a-kind for its custom enemies and the presence of a story, as well as being a comparatively large map pack at its time (3420kb).
  • Quake: Penumbra of Domination

    1997

    Quake: Penumbra of Domination

    1997

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
An episode with four varied, medium to large Wizard maps, as well as a start map. Also features some modified progs, like rotation, breaking walls, and cutscenes. Made by mexx (Marcus Dromowicz), the earliest "big name" in the Quake modding scene back in 1996 (not even one year past its release). Penumbra of Domination is considered by many to be mexx's finest work and is one of the few early Quake maps which stood the test of time, using limited tools. Map packs were rare back then, and having more than two maps was considered out-of-the-ordinary.
  • Shadow Over Innsmouth

    1997

    Shadow Over Innsmouth

    1997

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Very Early and Historically-relevant in the Quake modding scene, this map stood out when single-player modding wasn't common, with its moody atmosphere. Shadow over Innsmouth is a large medieval village with a few new textures and reskinned monsters. Somewhat of a sequel to "Village of Dread". This is considered Steve Rescoe's finest map by many. The map was featured on the RockPaperShotgun's "Quake Renaissance: a short history of 25 years of Quake modding" article. The map name is taken from a horror-occult short story by author H.P. Lovecraft, main inspiration for the Quake game.
  • Quake: Bestial Devastation

    1999

    Quake: Bestial Devastation

    1999

    Shooter
    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Very large industrial/Zerstorer-inspired zone with great details and gameplay. Recommended to use with Zerstorer, but works in id tech 1 too, then it is quite hard. Made in 1999 by John "DaMaul" McCann and stood the test of time fairly well.
  • Contract Revoked

    2002

    Contract Revoked

    2002

    PC (Microsoft Windows)
Contract Revoked is a 2002 episode consisting of 4 levels and a start map, with knave textures, some modified models, and sounds.
