The LCD is not backlit, and is hard to see without proper light. It is slightly hard to control since the directional pad is separated into two different sections, making the game hard to figure out without instructions. Sonic must navigate through 12 maze-like levels.

They were offered as a part of Happy Meals for a limited time in 2004. | The objective of the game was to move Knuckles around with the two buttons to collect Chaos Emeralds. The level has six platforms that feature randomly appearing Chaos Emeralds. There are two moving platforms that take the player to higher or lower levels. After Knuckles accumulates a certain number of Chaos Emeralds the game ends.

Collecting 30 rings will increase the speed and level. Missing 10 rings will end the game.

The background of the game is a rendering of the checkerboard floor found in Green Grove Zone in the 16-bit game.
