This hack is designed around the restrictions of extremely weak player units. Each of the 8 playable units in this hack has 1 base HP and 0 base everything else. To compensate for this, additional restrictions are in place. Everything is locked at 100% hit, and growths are fixed. Weapons have had to be slightly altered to fit in with this style. FE4’s ring system is present in this hack, but the rings present all have explicit downsides, giving them more strategic use. P-Down, D-Up may help you take a hit despite your abysmal stats, but your damage output takes a heavy blow. Ring bonuses also stack. Thanks to the hack’s short nature, you can use weaker versions of Filia’s Might and Nini’s Grace wherever they may help you, without fear of needing them later. These two mechanics alone lead to very CQ-esque statstacking. This hack consists of 5 relatively short maps, each with a unique look and song. An almost complete overhaul of this classic RPG, aimed at improving the game without compromising its original appeal and charm. Sprites, backgrounds and UI elements have been redrawn using later entries in the series as a reference. The interface has been improved within the limitation of the game engine, introducing Quality-Of-Life changes that reduce some of the frustration with the original release. Most notably, cancelling an action during combat (e.g. pressing B at magic spell selection, or selecting Magic on a character that is not capable of casting spells) will not forfeit that character’s turn. It is still possible to pass a turn by pressing B before selecting any action. Many aspect of the gameplay have been slightly altered to make grinding at lower levels unnecessary, and level progression more rewarding. Defeating monsters found in more dangerous locations such as dungeons is also more rewarding as it provides better loot and more XP. Quest64 Hard Mode at it’s core is a difficulty mod of the original story that ended up getting many more changes beyond just difficulty. A shortlist of most notable features would be - UI Hud is always visible. - Stat Growth and Stat Caps are changed. - All Monster stats are modified (Most cases being 1.5X rounded up). - Some Monsters were given specific tweaks to make them much harder than the average. - All “Spirits” are in new locations. - Some Treasure Chests have had their contents altered. - Many spells altered, Rebalancing, Deleted, some New Spells entirely. - Each “Element” is more closely balanced, so that players don’t feel forced to go Earth/Water. - Item Effects changed - 6 New “Items” added (2 of them have a default Icon of “White Wings” as I’m not a sprite artist) - Unused BGM’s have been used in certain areas. - The Start of leaving the Monastery is faster. - Mammon’s World Changed Slightly. - And more…Galidor Quest
