New Super Mario Bros. Mii was an "experience" tech demo shown at E3 2011 for the Wii U. It is based on New Super Mario Bros. Wii and contains new levels, as well as the option for players to use their Miis. This demo was meant to demonstrate the "Off-TV Play" capability of the Wii U, allowing the player to continue playing a game on the Wii U GamePad without having to use a television screen. Players were able to play for up to ten minutes before the game would automatically reset. While the game was only exhibited to show gameplay experience using the controller of the Wii U, New Super Mario Bros. U is "based on" New Super Mario Bros. Mii.
Killer Freaks from Outer Space is a cancelled game project from Ubisoft Montpellier that was changed to better fit the Wii U platform after being shown at E3 201.

Another Castle is a Kickstarter-funded platformer mixed with roguelike elements such as randomly generated levels and character persistence over multiple playthroughs. The game was canceled in July 2015.

Project Giant Robot was a game planned for the Wii U that featured a giant robot that the player could customize and that would be controlled with the Wii U game-pad.
The idea was to fight other robots and try to knock opponents over like in a sumo match. The Wii U's gyroscope sensor would be used to keep your robot standing during the fight.
The game had been in development for years and was shown at E3 2014 but development was canceled on February 1st, 2017.
