Overview
Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link is an action RPG being developed by Cygames for the PlayStation 4 and Playstation 5 that is a single-player title with optional four-player multiplayer.
Plot
The Captain and the crew of the Grandcypher set a course through the Zegagrande Skydom on their quest to find the island of Estalucia, the land of the Astrals and possibly the location of The Captain's father. However, things soon take a turn for the worse when Lyria loses control of her powers, forcing the crew to make an emergency stop at the nearby village of Folca. The Captain and their friends then find themselves helping out a local handyman named Rolan to evacuate another nearby island as a Primal Beast named Furycane goes berserk. Though the crew are successful in subduing Furycane, they are ambushed by the Pilgrims of Avia, led by a strange woman named Lilith and her bodyguard Id. After Id easily defeats the Captain and their allies, Lilith has her men kidnap Lyria and uses her to absorb the powers of other Primal Beasts, hoping to use her to open their own path to Estalucia.

Production
The game was initially announced at the Cygames Next 2016 event and is based off the popular mobile game, Granblue Fantasy. PlatinumGames was originally working with Cygames on development, but left the project in 2019. Little else was revealed about the game aside from a couple of trailers between then and the end of 2020. At Granblue Fantasy Fes 2020, Director Tetsuya Fukuhara said that 2022 was a more realistic release date for the game, and apologized for revealing the project too early.
The developers at CyGames claimed that they had initially planned to make the protagonist a new girl named Blue, even designing a few concepts for her appearance. However, over the years the project languished in development, the team decided that Gran and Djeeta (the default male/female Captain from the mobile game) were not just blank ciphers for the player, but fleshed out characters in their own right. Blue's costume was then repurposed onto that of Gran and Djeeta, who would reprise their role as protagonist in Relink.
