Overview
Pit Boss II is a multi-game arcade machine developed and released by Merit Industries for arcades in 1988.
The sequel to the 1983 machine Pit Boss, Pit Boss II includes a mixture of three casino games (card games "Joker Poker" and "Super Stud" and horse race betting game "Off to the Races") and three word/trivia games ("Scramble", "Super Phraze Craze", and "Super Trivia"). Both Super Phraze Craze and Super Trivia were previously released as separate games ("Phraze Craze" and "Trivia Whiz").
It is one of the earliest games to use Merit's CRT-250 arcade hardware, which is only slightly better than the original Pit Boss hardware and would be used throughout the Pit Boss and original Megatouch series all the way to the year 2000.
It received two updates: Super Pit Boss in 1998 and Pit Boss Superstar in 1990, and was superseded by Pit Boss Superstar III 30.
