[MARS] Total Warfare

[MARS] Total Warfare

[MARS] Total Warfare is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that uses maps derived from real Martian terrain. It is a hybrid between the traditional team multiplayer RTS and a massively multiplayer online (MMO) RTS. MMO RTS allows players to join battles in progress, and the battles can grow large and be very intense. The game offers a simple AI that is useful for training - in preparation for taking on human opponents.

In [MARS] Total Warfare, each player belongs to a race of mechs known as the LL and fights for resources on the surface of the red planet. The planet's climate has been affected by the war and large quantities of ice have melted to create many flooded valleys and craters.

An abundance of mineral rocks are found across the Martian landscape and can be extracted to gain Metals. To build an army, players also require Energy, which can be obtained from wind, solar, tidal and geothermal sources, using buildable structures. More advanced power reactors are also available.

Each player starts off with a mech known as the Executive Commander. The commander is able to extract the mineral rocks and build many basic structures including power generators.

When sufficient metals and energy have been accumulated, the commander can be upgraded several times to become more powerful and build additional facilities such as advanced long-range automatic mineral extractors.

Factories that produce combat mechs can also be built by the commander, but the most advanced factories can only be built by specific construction mechs through a specific build-chain. Using the factories, a wide range of aircraft, robots, vehicles, hovercraft, submarines and ships can be built.

Maps vary in size, but are larger than in typical traditional multiplayer RTS games.

[MARS] Total Warfare relies heavily on the internet connection to deliver content to players, which makes the game itself very compact in size, around 5MB.

The game is also hardware accelerated using OpenGL4, and has extensive support for multi-core processors, to be able to handle really large battles.

[MARS] Total Warfare is free to play, with a few premium features available as DLCs on Steam.
