The Eye of Typhoon

The Eye of Typhoon

A Korean-exclusive 2D fighting game for the 3DO and MS-DOS computers, from the studio behind the arcade game Fight Fever.

Overview

The Eye of Typhoon: Geug Cho Ho Gwon is a 2D historical-fantasy fighting game developed by Viccom and published by LG for the 3DO and PC (running MS-DOS) exclusively in Korea in 1996.

Similar to the studio's earlier 1994 arcade game Fight Fever, The Eye of Typhoon is a traditional 2D fighting game similar to Street Fighter II. Differentiating it from their earlier game is a screen scaling effect for zooming the camera (similar to SNK's earlier Art of Fighting and Samurai Shodown series), a unique Super system (using time-limited "Scrolls" which must be activated prior to use), and an optional 2-on-2 tag-team battle system.

The game's story takes place in some unknown time period centuries ago, where martial artists from around the world seek a missing book containing the mysterious martial art "Kuk-Cho-Ho-Kwon".

The game was originally planned to be released for arcades (using SNK's Neo Geo MVS platform), but was cancelled. It is the last game developed by Viccom.
