An early sports game from Konami, this was released on a variety of platforms in 1984.

Overview

Hyper Sports is a competitive sports game that features seven events commonly seen in the Olympics. It was a tie-in game for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and a sequel to Konami's earlier Track & Field. As with Track & Field, the player has to pass each of the game's events to move onto the next.

The player, as various athletes, take part in the following seven events. In order to progress from one to the next, the player has to pass a minimal "qualification" score for each event. The events usually involve mashing buttons as quickly as possible, or some very specific timing. The events include:

  • Skeet Shooting
  • Triple Jump
  • Swimming
  • Long Horse
  • Archery
  • Weight Lifting
  • Pole Vault
