Pony Island

A deceptive 2016 indie game that asks "what if Satan himself developed a video game?"

Pony Island is an indie metafictional horror game developed and published by Daniel Mullins Games digitally for the PC, Mac, and Linux (all via Steam, GOG, and other digital storefronts) on January 4, 2016.

Originally created for the December 2014 Ludum Dare game jam (with the theme of "entire game on one screen") and developed on the Unity Engine, players interact with what appears to be a decrepit arcade cabinet housing a simple endless runner called "Pony Island".

It is quickly revealed that the game has darker intentions for the player, requiring the player to breach into the Pony Island code and manipulate lines of code (in a unique puzzle mini-game) to progress. Along the way, they must interact with a point-and-click desktop interface (where they are helped from a mysterious being called The Hopeless Soul) and progress through multiple versions of the game itself (unlocking new power-ups along the way).
