Ultimate Chicken Horse

Overview

Ultimate Chicken Horse is developed by Clever Endeavour, a game studio from Montreal, Canada. It started as a Kickstarter project and was successfully funded. Then it went on to be an early access title on Steam before getting a full release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Gameplay

Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party platformer, where all players can build the level as it is played. Players choose from an assortment of stationary or movable platforms, hazards, and traps. If some of the players are able to make it to the end goal, but at least one dies, the players that finished score points. If all players make it to the end of the level: no points are awarded.

Additional points are rewarded for a variety of tasks, such as:

• Taking down players with traps
• Reaching the end by yourself
• Reaching the end first
• Reaching the end with a coin
• Reaching the end as the underdog

The game is primarily a local only game with an online mode available as a beta.

Character selection

The full roster includes 7 characters:

• Chicken
• Horse
• Raccoon
• Sheep
• Chameleon
• Bunny
• Squirrel

All the characters control the same but have unique dances.

Level selection

There are currently 10 levels in the game:

• The Farm
• Rooftops
• Waterfall
• Windmill
• Old Mansion
• Iceberg
• Metal Plant
• Pyramid
• Dance Party
• Pier

Each level ranges in difficultly and have built in traps and obstacles of their own.

Not all levels and characters are available right away. Occasionally, a level will have a mystery box icon over it. If players select that level there will be a box that they have to reach which will then unlock an additional level or character. There are also clothes that can be unlocked in the same way. These can be used to customize a player's character.
