Utawarerumono: Mask Of Deception

Overview

Utawarerumono: Mask Of Deception is a visual novel RPG developed by Aquaplus, as well as Sting Entertainment, that was released in Japan simultaneously for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita on September 24, 2015. The game is a sequel to the 2002 eroge title, Utawarerumono, although Mask Of Deception does not feature any adult content. Atlus USA eventually localized the PlayStation 4 and Vita editions of Mask Of Deception on March 23, 2017 in the United States, marking the first time a game in the franchise had ever been officially released outside of Japan. On January 22, 2020 the game was released on Steam.

A third game titled Utawarerumono: Mask Of Truth was released the following year that concluded the story of Mask of Deception and served as a finale to the franchise.

Adaptations

Similar to the previous entry in the series, Utawarerumono: Mask Of Deception received a 25 episode anime adaptation in October of 2015 produced by White Fox Ltd, who created the game's opening animation as well. The anime was simulcasted in English on Crunchyroll under the name Utawarerumono: The False Faces and was later released on home video by Sentai Filmworks in 2017
