Fundamental Changes

Car Sharing & Gifting

There will not be car sharing or car gifting in Forza Motorsport 6.

Car Clubs are out, Leagues are in

There will not be a world renowned Giant Bomb car club in Forza Motorsport 6. Turn 10 will be implementing Leagues instead. Leagues will match players up with other drivers that have similar abilities and driving styles.

Mods

Mod cars.
Mod cars.

Mods are a new addition to Forza Motorsport 6. Different from tuning, which has the player upgrade their car using upgraded car parts (better suspension/brakes, weight reduction, more efficient intake, aspiration change, etc), Mods allow the player to tweak things further. Players can equip up to three mods at a time, and they have different functions. Some of them are one time use boosts - players may increase how many credits they earn by a %, or players may move up X number of places in the starting grid. Other boosts have unlimited uses, and are somewhat of a passive bonus - car gets X% better grip, and an additional X% better grip on a specific course. Also, some mods are dares. Dares set a certain parameter, and for meeting that challenge players can earn extra credits. These include a set camera choice, and other restrictions.

Loyalty Rewards

Tier Rewards

Forza Motorsport 6 will reward players when they first start the game based on their actions in previous games. First, depending on player's driver tier (based on the arbitrary points they have earned in every Forza game since Forza Motorsport 2) players will unlock a handful of cars. Players do not just unlock the tier that they are currently in, they unlock every tier beneath that as well. Tier 8 is relatively new, and unless they have done nearly everything in the previous games they likely will not have that.

  • Tier 2: 2015 BMW M235i
  • Tier 3: 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition
  • Tier 4: 2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
  • Tier 5: 2014 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
  • Tier 6: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4
  • Tier 7: 2014 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 458 Italia GTLM
  • Tier 8: 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro

Participation Trophy

Also, they will give players a car simply for playing Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Motorsport 5, and Forza Horizon 2. Again, this is tied to player's Forza Rewards Account.

  • Forza Motorsport 4: 2009 Ford Focus RS
  • Forza Motorsport 5: 2013 Ford Shelby GT500
  • Forza Horizon 2: 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Shelby

Previous Game VIP Bonus

If a player was a VIP in either Forza Motorsport 5 or Forza Horizon 2, they get another free car. Keep in mind, players can purchase either of these cars if they were not a VIP, so they likely do not want to go back and purchase VIP just to get one of these cars - just buy it in game. Players can earn both VIP cars free if they were a VIP in both games.

  • Forza Motorsport 5 VIP: 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari
  • Forza Horizon 2 VIP: 2011 Koenigsegg Agera

That sweet sweet cash

Buy more cars!
Buy more cars!

Lastly, players will earn bonus money depending on how many cars they have in their garage for each game previous game going back to Forza Motorsport 3. This does not need to be unique cars, any car will do. If a player would like to spend some of their languishing rewards cash on Forza Horizon 2 or Forza Motorsport 5, they may find that Forza Motorsport 5's menu system is overly punitive to keep buying the same car over and over. However, Forza Horizon 2's menu system makes going through the process to buy the same Acura RS-X Type S over and over not nearly as bad and a relatively easy way to make sure players start with at least $5,000,000 waiting for them.

  • For each game with 50 - 199 cars in player's garage, they'll receive 100,000 in-game credits.
  • For each game with 200 - 299 cars in player's garage, they'll receive 1,000,000 in-game credits.
  • For each game with 300 or more cars in player's garage, they'll receive 5,000,000 in-game credits.

Steering Wheel Compatibility

There are currently four steering wheels that will work with Forza Motorsport 6, with a fifth wheel option releasing in October of 2015.

  • Hori Racing Wheel - ~$60
  • Thrustmaster VG Spider - ~$100
  • Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel - ~$300
  • Mad Catz Pro Racing Wheel - ~$390
  • Logitech G920 (releasing 10/2015) - ~$400

Fanatec now offers a compatible option in the modular Clubsport Wheel Base, but it is a very costly path. The base itself is $600, and requires a $400 wheel attachment, as well as pedals. The pedals range from $80 to $300 making the Fanatec a sizable investment.
