KO Punch

KO Punch

A 1981 boxing game from Sega. It introduced a pressure-sensitive boxing bag controller to measure a player's punching power.

Overview

This was a video game update of Sega's first electro-mechanical arcade game, Punching Bag, released in 1962.

KO Punch inspired other similar boxing arcade games, from companies like Kriss Sport and Kalkomat, that are still popular in modern arcades today.

It also introduced large, colourful, 2D character sprites, several years before rival Nintendo's Punch-Out!
