Story

As the sequel to Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2 once again revolves around a group of predominantly genius high school students who are brought together to attend the illustrious Hope's Peak Academy, only to find themselves forced into a game based on the prisoner's dilemma where the students have to murder each other without getting caught. Failure to do so results in the murderer being killed as well. This time, however, the game takes place on a tropical island after the students are taken there ostensibly as a field trip, with only the final survivor said to be allowed to leave and return to civilization. Much of the previous game's mechanics and overall structure return, including the balance between normal plot progression, class trials, and free time to bond with the cast, albeit with various tweaks and additions that change how specifics aspects of the game are played out.
