Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

Overview

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is an exploration-heavy action platformer in the Shantae series, developed and published by WayForward for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The game was revealed via the November 2012 Nintendo Power and was released digitally on the 3DS eShop in October of 2014. It was later added to the Steam store in April 2015, joining its immediate predecessor Shantae: Risky's Revenge on the digital storefront.

The story concerns a mutiny by Risky Boots's minions. The minions quest to resurrect Risky's mentor, the Pirate Master, and Risky reluctantly goes to her nemesis Shantae for help. Because Shantae was turned into a regular human at the end of Shantae: Risky's Revenge, the previous game chronologically, she is required to collect pirate items to help her progress, and slowly recovers the magic that was taken from her after defeating bosses.
