CastleMiner Z

Overview

CastleMiner Z is a block based zombie survival game developed and published by DigitalDNA Games for Xbox 360(Xbox Live Indie Games) and later released on the PC. It is the second game of the CastleMiner franchise.

Gameplay

CastleMiner Z allows the player to freely build mine and destruct a block based environment online with other players. While doing so the player is inundated with hostile creatures such as zombies, skeletons, alien creatures and even dragons. Players mine the environment for resources used to craft modern weapons such as assault rifles. In addition the players need to craft ammunition needed for these weapons.

The world is an infinite dynamically generated block based world, where biomes appears as concentric rings around the origin of the world that is marked with a tall tower. Many of the biomes contain a themed dragon that the player must defeat. The further away from the tower that the player moves the more hostile the world becomes. There is a day night cycle, during the night part of the cycle the monsters on the surface of the world become extremely hostile, forcing the player to retreat to the caverns underground, or a base which they have constructed.

There are several modes of game play. Endurance, Survival, Free Build and Dragon Endurance. Endurance mode challenges the player to move as far as possible from the origin of the world before their entire party dies. Survival mode allows the player to build and survive in a hostile environment, the main difference from endurance being that the game doesn't end when the players die, they simply re-spawn. Free Build mode allows the player to play Survival without any monsters present. Dragon Endurance is a special mode that is unlocked by the player by defeating the Undead Dragon, (A skeletal dragon that appears in one of the most hostile environments). This mode launches dragon after dragon at the players until the players can no longer survive the onslaught.
