Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

A remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, Overclocked adds an eighth day to the storyline, more demons, voice acting, and other new features.

Overview

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is a Nintendo 3DS remake of the original Devil Survivor released for the Nintendo DS in 2009. Atlus released the game in North America on August 23, 2011. Taking place in a fictionalized Tokyo, it combines turn-based Japanese role-playing elements (i.e. from traditional Shin Megami Tensei games) with turn-based tactical elements (i.e. from games such as Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics) while emphasizing the recruitment of demons as battle allies and the fusing of said demons to create new ones. It features a branching story where your choices yield you different party members, determine who lives and dies, and determine who you battle throughout the main story.

Differences from the Original Version

Devil Survivor Overclocked contains a number of additional features and enhancements over the original version of the game. These additions include:

  • Full voice acting.
  • Difficulty levels. The game's Normal difficulty plays identically to the original Devil Survivor. The new Easy difficulty increases the amount of experience points and macca earned from battles.
  • An extended storyline that adds an eighth day to the narrative.
  • An expanded roster of demons, raising the total from 130 to 150.
  • A Demonic Compendium with expanded demon profiles.

The game makes only limited use of the 3D display. The intro video and the Demon Fusion sequence are the only two parts of the game that are in 3D.
