Overview
Iron Commando: Koutetsu no Senshi ("Koutetsu no Senshi" also means Iron Commando) is a brawler for the Super Famicom and later the PC.
The game had progressed through its localization stage for a European release, but this release was ultimately cancelled. The prototype ROM has since been dumped and is available on the internet.
In 2016, Piko Interactive published the game on the Steam store for PC. Also in 2016 Piko Interactive released the game in English for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Story
The story involves a meteorite that has landed somewhere on Earth and threatens to disturb the natural order of things with its radioactivity. Iron Commando is sent to destroy it, but must also contend with the terrorist organization G.H.O.S.T. who wish to use the meteorite's power for evil. Moving from the city to forests to mines and temples, the player(s) as Iron Commando tracks the meteorite's last known whereabouts.
Gameplay
The game combines standard brawler gameplay via side-scrolling levels filled with enemy combatants with action stages where the player is riding a mine-cart or a motorcycle. The game's brawler sections make heavy use of weapons, including bats and shotguns. A single player can choose to play as Jack or Chang-Li, or two players can choose to play simultaneously.
