 PC

Overview

Sea dogs is a pirate-themed, non-linear Role-playing game developed by Akella and published by Bethesda Softworks on November 24 2000. It is the first game in the Age of Pirates franchise.

The game features naval combat, business management, simulation, and role-playing elements. The player has the choice to make allies with the Spanish, French, English, or no faction at all.

Sequels

Akella was creating Sea Dogs II, but mid-development the game was altered to become Pirates of the Caribbean, loosely based on the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Because of the change, the game had very little in common with the plot of the movie.

Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales is the official sequel to Sea Dogs, and all subsequent games in the series have used the Age of Pirates name.
