Super Bust-A-Move

Super Bust-A-Move

Taito's signature puzzle game makes its way to the PlayStation 2, complete with a new stylized toon art style.

Overview

Super Bust-A-Move (known in Japan as Super Puzzle Bobble, which is not to be confused with the arcade game of the same name) is a tile-matching puzzle game developed by Taito and published by Acclaim (Taito in Japan) for the PlayStation 2 in 2000 (September 28 in Japan, November 26 in North America, and December 15 in Europe).

The sixth game in the Bust-A-Move series (and the first to not be released in arcades first), Super Bust-A-Move is known for its unique cast of characters (featuring a stylized toon art style).

The game received a PC port in North America (published by EON Digital) on October 19, 2001. It also received a Game Boy Advance port in late 2001, published by Ubisoft outside of Japan and known as Super Puzzle Bobble Advance in Japan.

The game also received two separate updates: one for the PlayStation 2 in 2002 (titled Super Bust-A-Move 2, also known as Super Puzzle Bobble 2) and one for the GameCube in 2003 (titled Bust-A-Move 3000, also known as Super Bust-A-Move All Stars and Super Puzzle Bobble All Stars). Both this game and its PS2 update were re-released in 2004 as the Simple compilation Simple 2000 Series Vol. 62: The Super Puzzle Bobble DX.
