Kessen is a historically based real-time strategy game released on the PlayStation 2 by Koei.  The player fights as either as Ieyasu Tokugawa or Mitsunari Ishida and wages war toward the end of Japan's Warring States era.  Kessen was Koei's first title for the PS2 and was released in North America on October 26, 2000.  For the North American release, the game was co-published by Electronic Arts.

Gameplay

In Kessen, the player must set up their troops prior to the battle at hand.  Once the battle commences, the player then can take control of individual units, move them around the battlefield and use special abilities to defeat the enemy.  In contrast to most standard RTS games, the camera is positioned to give a closer view of the action.
